Poker

Basically, poker is a game of chance, with the goal being to make the best hand possible. In the most common variants, the pot is awarded to the player with the best hand, but some variants award the pot to the lowest hand, or even split the pot between the highest and lowest hands.

Poker has been around for a very long time. The earliest version, probably the French game poque, was introduced in the 17th century. Around 1875, the wild card was introduced.

Today, Poker can be played in countless Poker rooms in famous casinos. Poker is also popular in private homes and as a social activity. It can be played for pennies or thousands of dollars.

The first player in a Poker game has an obligation to make the first bet. After the first betting interval, the next player can check, bet, or fold. The best hand in a Poker game is one that consists of a straight. The lowest hand in a Poker game is a pair of aces, which is also the lowest pair.

Poker can be played with up to eight players. For a full game, a minimum of four players are required. The limit on a Poker chip is usually two, but can be as high as ten.

The first round of dealing distributes one card to each active player. The cards may be dealt face up, or face down. Some variants of Poker use a special 52-card deck, which includes jokers.
