The game of Poker involves betting between players who have a hand of cards. The player with the best five card poker hand wins the pot, or the sum of all the bets placed. A player can also win a pot by bluffing. This is done by pretending to have a high card when they do not.

A fixed amount, called the Small Blind and Big Blind is posted by two players to the left of the Dealer (D) before any cards are dealt. Each player then has the opportunity to raise, call or fold their bets. This makes the game of Poker more exciting and fun to play.

After the initial betting round, a dealer deals three cards face up on the table that are common to all players. These are called the flop. Then there is another betting round. After the third round a fourth community card is added to the board, called the Turn. Then there is one final betting round before the showdown.

There are different types of poker hands and the highest one is a Royal Flush (A, K, Q, J, 10 all in the same suit); Straight Flush (five cards in a sequence of the same suit); Four of a Kind; Full House (three of a kind and a pair); and Two Pair. To make a good poker hand it is important to practice and observe experienced players. This will help you develop quick instincts and improve your chances of winning.
