In the VLIW world, a slot is a part of a machine that contains both the data paths and the operation issue machinery. The relationship between the operation in an instruction and the pipeline that executes it is either explicit or implicit. The term is most commonly used to refer to the execution pipeline in dynamically scheduled machines. The term “slot” can also refer to an ins and outflow pipeline. There are several types of slots in the world of artificial intelligence. There are entities mapped to each slot, and each of these slots can have many synonyms. For example, an entity value of “New York” may have synonyms such as “Big Apple” and “NYC.” In the latter case, the bot understands the user’s intention and maps each slot to an entity. If a user wants to add more slots to a given utterance, simply click the Slots or Utterance tab and enter the name of the slot.
