World Tsunamis: History and Impact

A tsunami is a potentially devastating natural phenomenon, often caused by seismic activity such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, or even underwater landslides. In history, some of the deadliest tsunamis have left a profound impact on communities and ecosystems around the world.

History of Famous Tsunamis

One of the most famous tsunamis was the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, which occurred on December 26 and was caused by an earthquake measuring 9.1-9.3 on the Richter scale. Tsunami waves devastated coastal areas in Indonesia, Thailand and other countries, claiming more than 230,000 lives.
